“Soliloquy of the Rains” by Pheonyx Roldan Smith

“Soliloquy of the Rains” by Pheonyx Roldan Smith

I love just listening to the rain do its thing…
Ever since I was a kid I’ve been enamored by it.
Sort of like a mother’s whisper of a song in my ear,
It always makes me feel safe and reminds me
that the angels know exactly what they are doing.

My grandmother once told me as she held me on her thigh
that the rains were the result of when
the angels of heaven needed to send a message
to the ones doing the work here on the ground.
Their tears not only help wash away the worries and hurts
of the world into the open fields of this ancient Earth,
but the rains can open even the hardest of hearts,
much like a flower that has been long parched,
which now has the strength to blossom afterwards
in the new light which reveals a bright blue sky.

She said, “Listen to the rains closely, dear one… they have the power to tender the wounds that the thunder and lightning often creates with their own passing by.”
